#1. Find a Template
To find a vision board template, go to Canva's main page and type 'Vision Board' in the search bar. Press Enter/Return on your keyboard.
You'll be directed to a page containing various templates. Pay attention to Canva Pro icons like the crown icon and the padlock icon—these templates require a Canva Pro subscription and the removal of any watermarks.
Once you find a template that resonates with you, select it, and choose 'Customize This Template' on the next page. The template will open on the Canva editor page, ready to be personalized.
#2. Choose Photos and Graphics
There's a chance you might be fortunate and find a template already containing some images that could work for you. However, to create a truly personalized vision board, try uploading some of your own pictures and exploring other available options in Canva.

To upload your images, click on 'Uploads' in the left-side toolbar. From there, you can either drag and drop files from your computer or click on 'Upload Files' to search for the images you want to upload.
These don't need to be photos taken by you. You can also use downloaded images that align with your goals.

The images and graphics you choose don't necessarily have to be from your own collection. Canva has a vast database where you can find images to select from.
To search for images, click on 'Elements' in the left-side toolbar. You can either type in the search bar what you're looking for or browse the sections to find something you like.
You also have the option of Canva's AI Text to Image. Click on 'Apps' in the left-side toolbar and search for 'Text to Image.' From there, instruct the AI about what you're searching for, and it will present you with some options.
#3. Add Photos to the Template
Adding photos to your chosen template is extremely simple. Just drag and drop the image or graphic to where you want it within the template, and Canva will adjust the sizing for you.
It's best to try and use images that are similar in shape to the existing shapes in the template. If you don't do this, there's a possibility that the image size might not align properly.
#4. Change Any Words or Other Elements
Your vision board is coming together, but perhaps some words or elements within the template don't quite match the atmosphere you're creating.
You have the option to change the wording and completely remove elements. To remove, click on the element once and press 'Delete' on your keyboard. To change words, click on the element three times to display the text cursor.
#5. Share or Download
To share or download your vision board, select 'Share' in the top right corner.
From there, you can share your design with others via a link, share it on social media, download the file, and if desired, obtain a hard copy using Canva's printing services.

If you want to make your vision board a bit more creative, you also have the option to start from a blank page.
#1. Create a Design
Begin designing from scratch by starting on Canva's main page. Click on 'Create a Design' at the top right corner of the screen.
Simply typing 'vision board' won't work here. You'll need to explore dimensions that work for you. One option is to use a desktop wallpaper size so that you can later set your vision board as your computer background.
#2. Choose a Layout or Don’t
After selecting your dimensions, a blank document will open on Canva's editor page. Here, you have the option to choose a layout to make it easier to place photos and graphics on your vision board.
To choose a layout, go to 'Elements' and scroll down to 'Grids.' Select 'See All' to view all grid options. If you find a grid you like, drag and drop it onto the blank canvas, and Canva will set it to the correct dimensions for you.
If you don't find a suitable grid or if you prefer placing elements of your vision board differently, you can choose to work with the blank canvas option.
